Something happened to Advertise Hotspot...

Apperantly something happened to AH, some hacker got in and destoryed all of the posts in the packages area..

I have to announce some very sad news...

As some of you already noticed, we`ve lost quite a bit of posts...
That includes our whole package section along with some threads and posts from our staff room.
Also some of our members have been banned by the hacker who did this all.

As I saw the moderator log, I think gasol_the_great, one of our packagers account have been hacked and that`s the reason we lost "only" those specific posts (it could have been worse). I had no choice but to ban that account.

As this is a matter of security loops, I decided not to inform our "real" gasol about his account from our site. I also did not unban our unfortunate members yet. I need to wait for some confirmation from the other members of the staff to think out some proper solution.

I/We are terribly sorry about any inconvenience it caused to any of you. We are already working on a way to restore our lost content.

I haven't even been on Advertise Hotspot today and I don't even know how to hack..

They are intent on me causing the problem..

Well, guys, you better watch out, gasol_the_great may have registered on your forum, so change your passwords, in case this hacker decides to attack your forums, I'm going back to mine to make a backup of my forum.

look i know gasol. He has been an admin on all of my forums up to this one. He is very nice and he certainty dont know how to hack. He is a great staff and normal member and he wouldt do anything like that.

Its just you that got banned cause you caused trouble there just before.

Saohc, the reason you are being blamed is because there was nobody else in the entire AH community that would have had any reason to hack me. You, however, where quite upset when I reprimanded you for tagging that package.

Not to mention the fact that you have shown trouble on AH before. Then the day after the situation with me occured, you were banned for disrespecting staff.

Then about 48 hours later my account is hacked and all the content in the Package section is deleted?

Im sorry, but the evidence is pointing to you at this point. There are only two possible scenarios here:

1: You wanted to get even with me for reprimanding you, and with AH for banning you so you hacked my account and deleted all the package content.

or...

2: It was just some random hacker who just out of the blue decided to hack a Packager's account and delete all the content.

And btw, I find it EXTREMELY offensive that you would even dare accuse me of hacking AH. I have worked with hundreds of forums over the past several years and I have yet to receive as much as a warning from any of them! I have been staff on dozens of sites, and I have a spot clean reputation. You on the other hand my friend, have the appearance of a troublemaker.

Well here is the way I see things...

This wasnt just some "blind rage" hacker who wanted to destroy the forum, he/she just wanted to make a point. Presumably with me and the site.

In other words, he/she wanted to "teach me and AH a lesson" and not just destroy the site entirely.

Why do I think this? Well, if this were just a random act, why in the world would the hacker target me (a Packager) when he/she could have attacted the account of a more powerful staff member such as a moderator or even an Administrator?

Perhaps my account was easier to hack, or perhaps the perp had something against me. And I believe you are only person who ever could have had anything against me on AH...

If I am making a false accusation, then I do sincerely apologize, but the odds of it being you are fairly high, IMO.

Could be a easily guessable password or someone who wished to smear my name..

And no, the password wasn't that easy I dont think. It was 12 characters and included numbers.

Well no offense Saohc, but your name was already somewhat "smeared" on AH due to certain violations of the rules you had committed. I dont know why anyone would want to make you look like a hacker...

Basically, we just can not think of anyone else who would want to do this. The only other possibility would be that the hacker was not a member of the forum at all but a "drifter" who just stopped by to cause caos. But then the question about why MY account was hacked comes up again...

I have no intent in hacking you or anyone else and I don't even know how to hack either.

Well, your best bet is to be active on here and if you wish, my forum and wait until the staff on AH find out the problem.

But, I don't why they would hack your account, though.

A moderator or Admin would have seemed like a more likely target...

Well, I'm probably going to explain to everyone on AH, that I am not the hacker, because I am supposed to be un-banned.

Now, I don't know who or what this hacker is, but I think he was a "drifter" of some sorts, and I don't know what grudge he could have had against AH...
